Observed history · Oct 2023–Oct 2026 · 37 readings. Marker: latest.

What it means

The October reading fell below 50, reversing September’s move into expansion. Production and new orders also fell below that threshold. This is a diffusion survey of manufacturing conditions, not a percentage change in national output.

Source & measurement

NBS official manufacturing PMI fell to 49.3 in October from 50.1 in September. Below 50 indicates contraction. The 37-month history combines the official October 2024, October 2025 and October 2026 release tables; no missing months are interpolated.

Changes compare with the previous published observation. Percentage-rate changes are in percentage points (pp). Trends show up to 12 recent observations on individual scales. History ranges cover the available observations shown in each panel.

Only series with at least three years of sourced history are shown. Reporting periods vary; unpublished observations remain absent. Open a panel’s source link to inspect the release.
